It was frigid outside, I remember that. The day I decided I was tired of following the forever tracks of the daily grind was in December of 2015. I wanted to do something for myself. When I started NIA I felt like everything in my world became way more interesting. Although everyone and their mother was informing me, “starting a business is immensely strenuous…” I would privately roll my eyes. I knew it didn’t matter if it was going to be a tough journey. I knew what I wanted and you never know if you don't try, right?
How prepared was I for what was to come with starting my own fashion line? Well, to be honest, I wasn’t prepared at all. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how much we’re “warned,” but certain things just need to be learned in our own way and that takes time. I found out quickly that starting a business is the equivalent to having a child. I’ve been learning how to better manage my finances with my business in mind, being aware of having a savings and figuring out, quickly, what priorities really matter to me. I am the creator of my future. I hold the power and the learning curve is the fun part of this journey. NIA is my future. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.
